Starfish Sight Words Bingo is a beginner-friendly sight word game designed to support early readers as they build fluency and confidence.

While phonics teaches children how to decode words, sight words help reading become smoother and more automatic. This game was originally created by Kirstie for her own children, and later refined through years of use with students in her specialist tutoring work.

Starfish Sight Words Bingo is designed as a first sight word bingo game, featuring just 30 carefully selected words. These words come from the 100 most commonly used words in early reading and include the 10 key words recommended by Reading Recovery for initial literacy development.

The limited number of words helps reduce overwhelm while still providing enough repetition to support learning. This balance encourages success, confidence and enjoyment as children practise recognising sight words through play.
